Fill from dredging the northwest corner of the future Bingen Harbor was used to fill the area shown here (as well as the area immediately west of the harbor. The park, completed in April 1967, included picnic tables, restrooms, a single-lane boat ramp, and floating moorage. A Willamette Tug and Barge dredge can be seen in the background preparing to start work. The Bingen Harbor west dike and road (aka Low Dike "B") constructed in 1963 appears along the right side two-thirds up from the bottom of the photo. This was the primary access road to the first properties developed at Bingen Point until the original Harbor Drive was constructed several years later. Today, this "road" is a utility corridor and walking path with plans in place to add parking for a future commerical vessel dock. Harbor Drive was straightened and renamed Larch Street in 2011.
